Drought Preparedness and Response Plan!
Arizona remains in short and long term drought with most of the state experiencing some level of drought condition from abnormally dry to extreme drought.
It is everybody’s responsibility to raise conservation awareness and stay informed on the state’s drought status. Avra Water Co-op follows the Pima County Drought Preparedness and Response Plan prepared for the unincorporated areas of Pima County.
Currently we are in a Stage 1 Water Alert. We need to raise awareness and voluntarily conserve water which is our most precious resource. The link for our plan is below:
Avra Water Co-op Drought Preparedness and Response Plan
In an effort to conserve water and raise awareness, Avra Water is reading meters twice a month to help detect high usage and notify our customers of possible leaks. In order to make this program a success, it is imperative that we have the most current contact information for all of our customers. To update your contact information please call our office at:

If we cannot contact a customer with an obvious leak, we will refer to the General Ordinances of Pima County, Section 8.70.030. – Water Wasting Prohibited
At no time may a person waste water or use water unreasonably. Wasteful or
unreasonable uses of water include but are not limited to the following practices:
A. Causing or permitting water to leave a property by drainage onto adjacent
property or public or private roadways or streets due to excessive irrigation and/or
uncorrected leaks.
B. Failing to repair a water leak following initial notification.
C. Washing driveways, sidewalks, parking areas, or other impervious surface areas
with an open hose or with a spray nozzle attached to an open hose or, through other
means, under regular or system pressure, except when required to eliminate conditions
that threaten the public health, safety, or welfare. This restriction does not apply to
residential customers.
